Thanks to everyone who came out to our last 3 shows of the year. First time we've played Norwich. What a great crowd and venue. We thoroughly enjoyed our debut there.

The weekend shows in Newcastle and Leeds were even better then expected with both being rammed. Newcastle is one of my favourite cities to play and despite the severe weather warning still sold out.

We're back in Leeds on Feb 19 (at The Well).

Inbetween all the shows we fitted in 2 BBC sessions. The first an acoustic/stripped down affair on Janice Longs show. Very enjoyable.

The second was for Chris Hawkins on BBC6 who was filling in for Cerys Matthews. We were asked sometime ago if we'd be up for doing some 'dub carols'. The day before it became apparent Finny wasn't going to beable to sing! At the 11th hour the incredible Anna Stott from East Park Reggae Collective stepped in and did a fantastic job. Not quite carols, but two Christmas songs were played... 'I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus' on a reggae tip and 'White Christmas' in a ska fashion.

For those of you who missed the sessions you can listen again now at

BBC6 music - Cerys Matthews show w/ Chris Hawkins (Pama start around 1.06)

Pama Intl: Nov round up

What a month. 18 sell-out shows supporting The Specials, a BBC London radio session with Robert Elms, a xfm session with John Kennedy, interviews broadcast with both Huey Morgan (BBC6) and Steve Lamacq (Radio 2), plus over 100 radio shows spinning Pama Intl's brand new album Outernational. Press have been equally enthusiastic...

"Pama Intl continue their inexorable rise" **** Mojo

“12 hook-filled tracks, vintage rocksteady spiked with soul... An album of substance” Q magazine

"seamless merging of the classic and the modern" Echoes

"With a sound which acknowledges the glory days of Beverly's and Studio 1 but which sound fresh and relevant today" Record Collector

"the way they continually out do their previous release is so highly impressive" 8/10 Rocksound

"Pama International shines and the album stands one foot above the rest" Riddim Magazine

"It’s inspirational, empowering and moving. The depth of rhythm inhibits your body like a second heartbeat and propels you to get up and move. It shakes you up. It informs and entertains, and acts as a potent social commentary. Incredible stuff." Webcuts

"Booming, deliberate and bruising. Tracks seamlessly ebb into one another, a compendium of instrument imagination" Punktastic

Apologies

Apologies for the lack of posts on here. Things have been manic. Just back from 20+ dates supporting 2 Tone legends The Specials. An incredible experience, which rounded off with 3 nights at Hammersmith Odeon.

Our new album is out now. Pama Outernational, which has already picked up airplay from a phenomenal 100+ radio shows, including: BBC Radio 1; Mike Davies, BBC Radio 2; Steve Lamacq, Alex Lester, Janice Long & Bob Harris, BBC6; Craig Charles, Shaun Keavney, Don Letts, Cerys Matthews, Huey Morgan, Gideon Coe, Steve Lamacq and Chris Hawkins, xfm; John Kennedy, Kiss100; David Rodigan and BBC London; Gary Crowley & Robert Elms. Pama Intl also won BBC6's Rebel Playlist with a staggering 78% of the vote and recorded sessions for Jon Kennedy xfm and Robert Elms BBC London.

Press have been equally as responsive (see below) and this month we picked up a **** review in Mojo....

"Following recent high-profile live dates including spots backing the reformed Specials, Pama Intl continue their inexorable rise with this latest confusingly titled installment. As usual, their reggae and soul message is delivered with finesse, once more aided and abetted by the presence of former Specials Lynval Golding and Sir Horace Panter, with John Collins in the producers chair.

Radio-friendly Happenstance and opener Equality & Justice For All address social ills within the framework of deep roots reggae (each morphing into extended dubs on the CD), while Are We Saved Yet? and I Still Love You More draw heavily on the blueprint of 1960's soul, particularly through the organ riffs of co-founder Sean Flowerdew. repeated spins reveal the subtle nuances that hold it together, channeling well established influences to yield something fresh." **** Mojo

You can buy the album on cd or vinyl at www.rockersrevolt.com, HMV, Play.com, Amazon, Rough Trade, Recordstore.co.uk, and an ever growing number of great independent records shops. More on this later.

Next up, three shows; Norwich Arts Centre (16 Dec), Newcastle Live Theatre (19 Dec) and Leeds Hi Fi club (20 Dec). We're also recording two radio sessions this month; BBC Radio2-Janice Long (17 Dec) and BBC6 music-Cerys Matthews (18 Dec).

Then a well earned rest for Christmas before starting the spring tour. Can't wait. Hope to see you all soon.

Pama Outernational in the press

Hi all

Here's a quick round up of the press quotes in. Loads of fantastic press. With more to come. A great spot running on Fred Perry and The Guardian online. Review in Q, with Mojo still to come. At the bottom of all this I've listed more interviews coming up. Loads happening and more to come.

More and more radio coming in everyday. As with the press it's looking great, with sessions to come with Janice Long-Radio2, Robert Elms-BBC London and an interview with Fun Lovin Criminals Huey Morgan on BBC6.

All the best
Sean

PAMA OUTERNATIONAL quotes

“Pama Outernational; 12 hook-filled tracks, vintage rocksteady spiked with soul... An album of substance” Q magazine

"Pama Intl's seamless merging of the classic and the modern, makes them one of the most enjoyable UK reggae bands and this album, presents them at their best dressed." Echoes

"Pama Outernational comes across like a house party deejayed by somebody with a very deft touch and an altogether adventurous selection policy – after a couple of tunes you’re not at all sure what you’re going to hear next, but you know enough to trust it implicitly." BBC.CO.UK

"The latest and most consistent release from UK-based reggae heads... classic roots and dub" Straight No Chaser

"With a sound which acknowledges the glory days of Beverly's and Studio 1 but which, with its judicious use of electronic effects and its streetwise lyrics, sound fresh and relevant today" Record Collector

"I'd simply say, it's brilliant." album of the month Scootering magazine

"the way they continually out do their previous release is so highly impressive" 8/10 Rocksound

"superb...the band's most accomplished release to date...excellent" Do The Dog skazine

"with their diy spirit, tenacity and great tunes there is nowhere they can't go" Big Cheese

"Pama Outernational is clearly a work of passion, and is lyrically challenging. It should satisfy fans and its commercial appeal may encourage people who aren’t that familiar with this genre to dip in" MusicNews.com

"the highlights come thick and fast... if there was any justice it would be a huge hit" Beat Surrender

"It’s hard to overstate how loving this album is and how simultaneously cool and tuneful – a tribute and yet a brand-new creation, using old styles to make new work." Vanguard.co.uk

"The star studded musical collective return to dazzle us with their awesome mix of dub fuelled ska and rocksteady reggae. Pama Outernational is a beautifully crafted composition that truly is reggae music for the people." Sub Culture online

"truly infectious dub and roots reggae at its very best... every track has potential to be a hit" State.ie

"an album that is an absolute joy to listen to" I Really Love Music

"The album's diverse influences make it the perfect soundtrack to a house party and ensure it's bound to appeal to pop fans as much as to those usually interested in roots music" Morning Star

"boy it’s a belter! bass laden, dub fuelled reggae with late 60’s funky, soul sounding groovers" Springline Jamaica
